Two Irish jigs in one by Doug Sparling.
“These are tunes I wrote but they sound very tradtional. Played slower than most jigs are played these days the tunes we’re meant to capture the feel and tradition of the west coast of Ireland specifically the Aran Islands. Note: Gort na gCapall translates to “The Field of the Horses” and is the name of a town on Inishmore (Aran Islands) the birthplace of Liam O’Flaherty and is also the title of a painting by Maurice MacGonigal. “Launching the Currach” is a painting by Irish artist Paul Henry. I pictured the sea and the islands when I wrote these tunes.”
