6 royalty free music tracks that sound like Coldplay

Posted in illustrated music, Royalty Free Music | 1 comment

I’ve been asked a thousand times for music that sounds like Coldplay for use in a commercial.  Why is that?  Have they cracked the essential secret to what makes music acceptably hip, contemporary and cool for commercials?

Well, I have no idea, but I know a lot of people dig that sound.  So here’s a bunch of tracks that you can use in your next project that evoke that sound.

These all can be used in websites, web videos, animations, flash intros, podcasts, film soundtracks, television and radio ( a broadcast license is required) and corporate presentations such as powerpoint and keynote.

Finding Your Royalty Free Music

You can either Browse for Music by Using The Navigation Menu – Or you can Search For Music (more on this below).

 check iconBrowsing Through Navigation Menu

If you look up at the new Top Nav Bar (drum roll please), you can see that there’s handy pulldown menus to browse through our music categories:

a) Browse Music By Genre

This is the fancy name music programmers (and the Head Monk) use for style as in like Rock or Hip-Hop or Country etc.

b) Browse Music By Mood

This is like how filmmakers think when they’re setting a scene.  Or like when you’re searching for a movie to watch at Netflix or iTunes, things like Action-Adventure or Horror or Romantic Comedy.  Some of us monks think it would be cool if you could put Horror music to a Romantic Comedy!

c) Browse Music By Setting

This is describing what type of project you are working on such as a Wedding Video or a Documentary or a Trailer.  Did you know that Book Authors are making trailers all the time now?  That’s nifty!

search royalty free music iconSearch For Music

There’s actually 2 search engines on this site.  One is up to your right on the top of the site.  This one is an overall site search.  You can type in band names or songs or moods to get these kind of results:

Coldplay (http://www.300monks.com//?s=coldplay)

Lady Gaga http://www.300monks.com//?s=gaga

or a famous piece like Ride of the Valkyries.  http://www.300monks.com//?s=valkyries

Product Specific Search

The following Search Box is specific to the product catalog.  This can be useful in finding the track you previously downloaded and you only have the name of the file.

After you find a track or many soundtracks that you like, you can easily download a preview file to try out in your project.  This way you can really sense if it’s working and even show it to your client, producer, mother, significant other or even your cat.

Here’s what our tracks look like in the store.  See the download link?

A Note About Errors in the Music Categories

Now we did a lot of work, but still the Head Monk has been hitting some of us poor lads with his stick and yelling “This is in the wrong category!”  Yes, we know, very un-mindful of him to be yelling and hitting us with a stick!  But it was just a light bamboo one.  Anyway, there will be times when music is in the wrong place, and we’d appreciate it if you told us.  We may even be able to send you a little gift or reward for doing so.  Just don’t bother the Head Monk.  Send it to us regular brother monks (and sisters) here:  errors (at) 300Monks.com  – That’s of course the @ sign.  We did that so the spam robots wouldn’t deluge us with junk mail.

We are no longer accepting music with lyrics

We get way too many submissions of poor quality music that will never sell.  Please screen yourself well and save yourselves and us lots of time.

If you’d like to be considered for the monkhood, please keep in mind that you must own 100% of the copyright of all work submitted and the master rights to the recording.  If you need a refresher on how copyrights and revenue streams for you work, this is an excellent brief article and chart.

How The Music Store Works

Our production music library offers a fast, easy way for visual creatives such as Indie Filmmakers, Ad Agency producers, Flash animators, Corporate video producers, etc. to find and use high quality music in their productions. Our clients purchase a license for the synchronization rights to put your music to their images.

You as the Composer are able to earn a percentage of this licensing fee AND in some cases (broadcast) you can earn performance royalties paid through your performance rights society (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, PRS, etc.)

Upon Acceptance

  • You will have an additional revenue stream from work already created and under-utilized
  • Non-exclusive – you can sell your music to anyone else at anytime. Just let us know if you sign an exclusive deal somewhere else so we can remove your track(s).
  • Equitable profit sharing – 50/50% net income split (after credit card processing fees and any commissions to affiliate sites)
  • Payments – We pay you  EVERY MONDAY  – if you had any sales the week prior.
  • Publicity – your name or your artist name or if you prefer, you can use a nom de plume.
  • On our list for custom scoring opportunities with advertising agencies, film studios, independent producers and more.
  • We reserve the right to choose tracks, presentation, editorial comments, genre description.
  • We reserve the right to set prices
If and when your music gets accepted, there is a considerable amount of work on your part to upload, tag, write descriptions and ensure proper titling to be found in this very competitive business.  If you are not willing to do this on your own, please do not submit.

Guidelines

Samples should not sound like samples. Electronics should not sound synthy unless intended. You should have a studio where you can produce music quickly to a creative brief. You can work in any sequencing environment you like (LogicPro, ProTools, DigitalPerformer, Nuendo, etc) as long as you can produce high quality results.

What We’re Looking For

(March 2014)  Here’s some of the stuff that’s most in demand.

  • Instrumental ukulele pop stuff like Jason Mraz
  • Instrumental pop songs that sound cutesy like Lenka’s The Show
  • Instrumental rock anthems that sound like Coldplay or U2
  • Optimistic, hopeful, positive tracks that would go well in a corporate presentation, advertisement or web video
  • Orchestral film cues with real orchestral instruments – or samples that sound extremely real
  • Love songs for a wedding video
